Acknowledging that we’ve achieved something To a point we question ourselves often: Am I really good at this? Nothing wrong with it - It’s a good virtue.īut things change when we start diminishing our achievements and pushing ourselves away from the “good” benchmark. I think it’s the Asian upbringing that we don’t want to be showy, and explicitly acknowledge that we’re actually good at something. I realise there’s a difference between being humble vs. If you still go “Oh no la, I’m not that good” when complimented,
If you struggle to find a balance in what you do (or generally feeling lost),Īt that point in time, you just need someone out there to let you know. Some cliche advice that I talked myself into 😂
This way I understand myself a little better (how I think + feel). I take time to figure out my values, strengths, passion, etc. When I feel anxious, I go to the schedule to focus on what’s necessary. I feel things get more predictable when there’s a routine. I’ve been following through for about 1.5 weeks! You might’ve seen my schedule on LinkedIn 🤣 It’s about piling up small wins > being the best immediately. Every day I incorporate 30mins to write a content. Instead of striving for perfection, I just try to improve. I perform more purposefully and feel more driven to do things. I struggle - I feel bad and demotivated - I slack - I struggle even more I didn’t see myself delivering my best most of the time.
I struggled to consistently learn and apply what I’ve known. It could almost be Jeff's leitmotif.I couldn’t keep up with the latest industry insights.
"Towering Intellect" from "Slumber Party" has Radiohead's musical vibes while describing Jeff's personality. Lizard in the Sunshine " is a take on "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes, played in "Lizard Day Afternoon" as Clarence and Sumo chase a lizard around Aberdale. " Ameri-Ham Dreams " from "Hoofin' It" plays off as funny and randomly awesome. Both gutwrenching and enjoyable at the same time. But rather than being about a toy being neglected by his owner in favor of his rival, this song has a Clarence's life go another direction when he missed one recess all because of his Li'l Buddy doll, then becoming gloomy. " Weird Things " in the episode "Lil Buddy" is a parodic take of Randy Newman's "Strange Things" from Toy Story. " Hit the Piñata ", a song that plays during Jeff's piñata training montage in "Pilot Expansion", has a nice rhythmic tone while describing the basics of the eponymous task. It is accompanied by images of the night sky at Clarence's neighborhood, creating a very nostalgic and heartwarming atmosphere in the show's end credits. The end credits theme, " Good Habits (and Bad) " by Saba Lou, is a soothing melody sung by a child, whose lyrics talk about common things from childhood and how she is always feeling fine. It even has a variant for "Goldfish Follies", where the entire opening sequence is in sepia tone and the theme song is given '30s vibes, which gives nostalgia to that era. The opening theme, " King of the World ", really gives a shine to the premise and the character's adventures. Whatever sort of music Clarence has - parodied versions of existing songs, the theme music, the episode scores - they're bound to be catchy.
